Project Description
A substantial 14m single-storey rear extension to an existing barn conversion, designed to create a generous open-plan living, dining and entertainment space with a strong connection to the garden.
The extension forms a continuous, light-filled volume, enhanced by large-format glazing and rooflights, allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the plan while reinforcing the sense of openness and flow.
A complementary 4m side extension introduces a dedicated bar and games room, adding a distinct leisure-focused element to the home and supporting a more dynamic, social way of living.
Architecturally, the intervention has been carefully composed to blend seamlessly with the existing barn, using aligned proportions, complementary materials and a restrained palette to ensure the extension reads as a natural continuation rather than a standalone addition.
A well-balanced scheme that combines contemporary spatial quality with sensitivity to the original building, delivering a cohesive and highly functional family home.
